The form was of a fair standard for the grade. The early pace had the field strung out by the first, but it soon slowed and the field was bunched up by halfway. Two runners dominated the betting and they fought out the finish. The Irish raider HAWKSKBURY HEIGHTS was a warm order to repeat his win in a seller at Sedgefield just three days earlier when dropped in trip on his second start after a ten-month break. Always well placed, he took up the running leaving the back straight and just had to be nudged out. This was his third run in two weeks and he might have earned a break.

Sorrento Moon, winner of a 1m2f seller at Ripon in August, was making her hurdling debut in similar company. Tracking the leader, she made a mistake at the first, then another in the back straight which cost her several lengths, but she stayed on well. She could go one better with the benefit of this experience.Nevsky Bridge, in receipt of up to a stone here, had put up only two decent performances, one first time out and the other after a break. Having raced just nine days earlier, the second favourite moved up travelling well on the home turn but her run flattened out in the straight.

Skye But N Ben looked a modest performer on the Flat and likewise over jumps, though he did make some brief headway last time at Uttoxeter. In rear early on the outside, he again made late headway and ran a little better again.

Lindseyfield Lodge was quite free early on and still in the front rank until tiring in the home straight. He has not been in much form recently but does run his best races at Hexham.

Bramantino was giving his jockey his first ride back after a prolonged spell on the injury list. He had been comprehensively beaten by Hawksbury Heights earlier in the week and by the back straight he was beginning to feel the effects of that recent race.

Moyne Pleasure was having his first start for more than three months, when he looked to have breathing problems, and he led until weakening on the final uphill stretch leading into the home straight.
