TOBOND, whose trainer boasts a good record with his runners at this track, must have derived plenty from his debut here in August because he looked far more professional this time, always travelling quite kindly in behind the pacebefore being sent on two furlongs out. Shaken up, he came nicely clear, and while it is probably the case that he beat little, he does look to have a fair level of ability, clearly likes this surface, and could be capable of further improvement in handicap company.
Farleigh did well to overcome her low draw and race prominently. She briefly threatened to give the eventual winner a race before having to settle for second, and she looks sure to come on for this initial experience. A half-sister to among others Missoula, who won this year's Ascot Stakes, she will clearly stay a lot further next year.
Charlie Smirke, whose Lingfield second seemed to give him every chance in this company, got a good early position tracking the leader on the rail, but he proved disappointing in the closing stages, just holding on for third place on the line. He does now have the option of handicaps, though.
Absinthe, a half-brother to a couple of winners, did not run too badly on his debut and should be better for the experience.
Co Dependent, who was well backed on his debut 113 days earlier but showed little, shaped a bit better than his finishing position suggests this time. He was hampered and stumbled in the early stages and raced widest of all around the bend into the straight. Keeping on at the finish, he can fulfil his potential in handicap company after one more run.
