IMPOSING, a Derby entry who cost 170,000gns, is bred to appreciate further next season. He had shown promise on his debut over 7f on heavy ground but he took a long time to settle things on this much faster going. In some ways he got the run of the race as the third took the runner-up across the track and left the winner a big gap, but he is the sort who will come into his own over middle distances, especially back on a more forgiving surface.
Big Bound, a half-brother to three winners including Pampas Cat, was really unlucky on this debut. he travelled well close to the pace but when moving up to challenge got carried right across the track by the third and was also hit across the face. Despite showing signs of inexperience he eventually got past and made sure the winner did not have an easy time of it. He is in the Racing Post Trophy and, although that may come a bit soon, he looks sure to win races and should fill out into an imposing individual next season.
Bandanaman had been touched off on his debut over 7f on soft ground but was never going next time. He put that effort behind him with a decent effort and should be able to win races as he also now qualified for a handicap mark.
Naheell was relatively unfancied on this racecourse debut for his in-form yard and did not have the pace to go with the front four in the last quarter-mile.
Kiwi Moon, a 175,000gns half-brother to a couple of juvenile winners, looked in need of the outing, missed the break on this debut and never got involved.
