JUDD STREET likes this track and the only time he finished out of the frame here was in the Group 2 Temple Stakes. He gota good lead into the race and once the gap opened next to the far rail he burst through and soon had the race won, reversing Newbury form with Toms Laughter at the same time.
Fantasy Explorer, who was 3lb higher for his win over 6f last week, was made plenty of use of at the head of the stands-side group and kept on well. Fast ground suits and he will need it to remain dry if he is to add to his score.
Quiet Elegance has struggled in Group and Listed company since winning a conditions race on her seasonal debut, but she showed much more on this handicap debut and kept going considering she was somewhat isolated in the centre of the track. She handled this fast ground pretty well considering she is a half-sister to the soft ground-loving Reverence and she should have a handicap in her if the assessor does not punish her for this.
Secret Asset, a course and distance winner who is best at 5f on fast ground, ran a fine race from the front and, having returned from a break in good heart, looks capable of scoring again before long.
Royalist, a lightly raced colt who was dropping back from 7f, is keen sort but did not quite have the pace to lead against these specialist sprinters and, although staying on, never looked likely to win. He may be better at 6f with a little cut in the ground.
Invincible Force goes well on heavy ground but handles faster and, although he has not won since coming from Ireland is now 5lb below his last winning mark so should prove competitive at a slightly lower level.
Fyodor, whose only win in last two and a half years was over course and distance, was off the same mark as for that last success and had blinkers for the first time having worn a visor when last successful. He was too keen under restraint early and had nothing left for the closing stages.
