Fathsta had not convinced on his two previous outings at the track, but he did nothing wrong here and remains in great heart despite a very busy time this year. He helps to set the standard of this form.
Kay Es Jay, just held at Salisbury on softer ground 23 days earlier, picked up nicely when asked for maximum effort in the home straight and posted another solid effort from a 2lb higher mark. She also deserves extra credit, as she was drawn poorly and her turn looks to be nearing again.
Lindoro was doing his best work at the finish and turned in a better effort with the tongue-tie back on. Hinton Admiral, down in grade, was near last turning for home and he motored inside the final furlong. He can build on this effort. Barons Spy is suited by this track and was another staying on strongly late on, but the handicapper probably has him where he wants him.
Heywood, another who enjoys this track, refused to settle early on and was disappointingly beaten well before his 4lb higher mark came into play. This was not his true form.
