Chosen One took keen hold, close up on outside, driven and outpaced 2f out, edged right and stayed on well final furlong, led near finish
Baronovici led, ridden and edged right over 1f out, kept on, headed near finish
Night Premiere tracked leaders, effort and every chance inside final furlong, kept on same pace
Planet Queen towards rear, pushed along halfway, kept on final furlong, nearest finish
Kinout close up until ridden and no extra over 1f out
Tito behind and soon pushed along, headway over 1f out, kept on, never able to challenge
Andrasta in midifeld on outside, driven and outpaced over 2f out, no impression
Rascasse behind and soon outpaced, some late headway, never on terms
Mandelieu prominent until ridden and weakened over 1f out
Jazz Stick prominent 2f, soon struggling
CHOSEN ONE, the least-exposed in the field and making his handicap debut, raced prominently on the wide outside of the field from the highest draw early, but he looked cooked when hanging in behind the leaders and coming under serious pressure inside the last 2f. However, he found his second wind on reaching the rising ground and put in a sustained late effort to snatch the race near the line. He apparently hasn't been the easiest to train, but still has scope and can build on this.
Baronovici, who has plummeted in the weights having shown very little for current connections, had the visor on for the first time in a bid to wake him up, and someone expected it to work as he was the subject of significant market support. He ran a blinder, too, having gone off at a rate of knots and the race looked his after he had worn down the other pacesetters, but the prize was agonisingly snatched from him close to the line. He has obviously dropped down to the sort of mark he can win off, but much depends on whether the headgear works again and the cat is rather out of the bag now.
Planet Queen, disappointing since an encouraging return to action on much quicker ground, had the blinkers on for the first time instead of the visor. Still a maiden after eight attempts and 6lb wrong, she ran much better here and was staying on in the closing stages. If building on this, she may be able to do even better, especially off her proper mark.
Kinout usually likes to do it from the front, but thanks to Baronovici he was never able to do so here and had to make do with a chasing role. He had every chance and ran his race, but despite being given some assistance by the handicapper now he looks pretty exposed.
Tito, making his handicapdebut having run well on his recent return from an 11-month absence, never got into the race and was disappointing, but this may have come soon enough and he is worth another chance.
