Monahullan Prince ran well. He raced reasonably handily most of the way but the winner got away from him down the back straight. Tom Doyle didn't panic and rode a patient race, and it looked like paying dividends as his mount stayed on up the straight and looked briefly as though hewas going to get close enough to challenge. It didn't quite happen as he weakened inside the final hundred yards.
The mostly consistent Tippeenan Lass managed to fill the placings. She chased the winner for a lot of the way and came under pressureto stay with him halfway down the back straight. She kept going in the straight and stayed on again from the last as she just failed to get second place.
Oenologue hadn't run since October and that almost certainly told in the closing stages. Held up early, he made quite rapid progress to track the winner into the straight but was going nowhere from the second-last. He should come on a good deal for the run.
Favourite Omas Glen chose this to be a non-going night for her. She was never in the hunt before keeping on through some beaten horses in the straight.
