LUMINOUS EYES had the plum draw and made full use of it as she was prominent the whole way. Having come through to lead over a furlong out, she found plenty when challenged and drew clear in the style of quite a smart filly. Time will tell what she beat, but she seemed to improve greatly from her Fairyhouse debut and may progress further.
Odds-on favourite Drumbeat looked a sure fire future winner after a very promising Curragh debut but didn't fire today. Racing handily, he made reasonably smooth progress to challenge the winner a furlong out but found very little. It may have been the ground, but he carried his head high and certainly his performance provoked more questions than answers, particularly about his temperament.
Thecreditcrunchie was never that far from the pace and kept on well all the way to the line without being good enough or being able to challenge. He qualifies for a mark now and may well be one for the nursery route.
One of two particular eyecatchers was Kinetic Quest. He took a few strides to wake up coming out of the stalls and lost some valuable lengths. He raced in the rear half for most of the journey thereafter and was forced to race on the outside in the straight, but he came home well and showed a good deal of ability.
The other eyecatcher was another newcomer in the shape of Again. She racedin the rear of mid-division but had a wall of horses in front of her and when switching to the inside got squeezed right up by the hastily retreating early leader Serious Times. In the end, to get into a four-way photo for fifth place was a very fairrun and she should come on a great deal.
