A couple did stay on off the pace, but it was hard work. Vintage Port was held up in mid-division and almost singularly gave chase to the winner from early in the straight. He stayed on well and briefly looked like challenging, but Marseillais had a bit up his sleeve.
Ah Ya Boy Ya ran a fair race for a horse who would prefer better ground. Held up well off the pace, he made steady headway from about the fourth-last and continued to stay on well inthe straight to be nearest at the finish. He would look sure to be Galway-bound and looks a versatile enough individual.
Tubber Gael Holly ran a really good race and deserved to get into the money. Racing off the pace in mid-division, she attempted to go in pursuit of the winner three out and kept going, but she just wasn't good enough in this company. She's a tough and game mare if a little bit limited.
Ben Britten was never really a factor and just kept on through beaten horses, finishing one place in front of Ballycullen Boy, who chased the leading group for much of the way before coming under pressure and weakening before the third-last.
Clan Music was pulled up and was reported by her rider to have lost her action. [JOH]
