Schelm in rear, progress into 3rd entering straight, closed on leader travelling well before last, led narrowly run-in, kept on well, cheekily
Sanglote tracked leaders, 3rd on outer 3 out, ridden in 2nd entering straight, led before 2 out, narrowly headed by easy winner run-in, kept on
Sporting Medic tracked leaders, progress to lead after 3 out, ridden and headed before 2 out, soon no extra
Khair Bar tracked leaders, ridden in moderate 4th before 2 out, no extra
Blueanna always in rear
Easyfix tracked leaders, 5th 4 out, no impression before straight
Newlands North led, headed after 3 out, soon weakened, tailed off
Trainer Ronnie O'Leary said of the winner: "I was a bit worried by the easy ground, but he is a better horse over hurdles than on the Flat and I'll enter for the Galway Hurdle tomorrow."
Sanglote, a bumper winner here a year ago and having only his second run over hurdles, acquitted himself well although Schelm was toying with him in the closing stages. Second and ridden before two out, he was soon in front but the winner always had his measure on the run-in.
Khair Bar, a maiden hurdle winner over 2m2f at Gowran Park last month, was in touch until failing to make any headway from before two out.
Blueanna appeared to have little chance on form, and she was never able to get into serious contention. (TOH)
