Runner-up to subsequent Group 3 winner bJumbajukiba in the corresponding race last season, Settigano was 20lb higher here, and Fitzgerald reckoned afterwards that he may have to look for an opportunity for him in a Listed race next. However, he added that "one of the valuable handicaps later on" could be on the agenda.
The Irish Cambridgeshire in which he finished sixth last year is a possibility, though he will be very near the top of the handicap as a result of this.
Zero Tolerance, making a quick reappearance after an encouraging run at Newcastle on Friday, was well supported to exploit a mark that reflects his long losing sequence.Though never from the heart of the action, he seemed to get tightened up at a crucial stage before running on to good effect. Rated 105 at the time of his last win, in a Listed race at Haydock in September 2006, he is certainly knocking on the door againat this stage.
Slam Dunk is proving a basically reliable sort. Best of the three-year-olds here, he raced prominently before failing to find any extra inside the last furlong. He might benefit from a return to 7f, the trip at which he won at Dundalk.
Celtic Dane ran his best race since finishing second in a premier handicap over 1m4f at Naas towards the end of last season. This was a sound effort over a trip short of his best.
Reload, raised 10lb for winning at Gowran last weekend, ran satisfactorily off his new mark.
Ahoy,a four-year-old without much mileage on the clock, looks like one to take from the race, leaving an impression that there will be better to come from this seasonal debut.
No Strings, second-best of the small group of three-year-olds in the line-up, was not disgraced. Twice a winner on the Polytrack, he is a sort who could be Galway-bound for Dermot Weld. [AS]
