The winner, successful twice over jumps at Ludlow and Wincanton before joining Tom Foley, had added to that total when landing a decent conditions hurdle at Roscommon. The five-year-old was handicapped on his French three-year-old form which included a couple of placed efforts on good to soft ground over 1m and 1m1f. To his credit, he battled well when asked to go about his business to get the better of his rival, and he now has plenty of options over the coming months.
Alamgiyr had run well over this journey when second at Ballinrobe before winning afterwards at Tramore over shorter. This easier ground probably proved his downfall in the end, but on a quicker surface he looks a future winner before long off a similar mark.
Always The Groom had failed to show much on his seasonal debut at Wexford, but this was better from Pat Flynn's runner. He crept closer from off the pace rounding the home turn, but never at any stage looked like getting to the leaders. This was a hint of better things to come when he encounters faster ground.
The versatile Omas Glen plugged on without ever looking a threat on ground that appeared to come right for her beforehand.
Mountain Snow and The Last Hurrah never threatened at the business end along with Impudent, who looked up against it taking on the winner under these terms. She raced off level weights when finishing a close second when they clashed over hurdles at Roscommon last time.[BF]
