The winner had gained his only previous win over 7f on good ground at this venue last October. He underlined the positive signals shown when third at the Curragh 14 days previously over longer when he arrived full of running on the outer early in the straight. Once his rider pressed the button under a furlong and a half from home, the result was never in doubt as he edged clear. He looks capable of adding to this win especially with the assistance of his rider claiming a valuable 7lb off his back.
Tenacious Greg was also supported in the ring to record his second career victory since springing a surprise when trained by Dermot Weld in a Galway juvenile maiden over this trip back in September 2005. He held every chance when they turned for home, but had no answer when the winner asserted.
Maximo had reached the frame in his previous four outings on the all-weather at Dundalk. He plugged on under pressure in the closing stages, but never looked like imposing his presence.
The overnight rain should have helped Dane Blue, but she didn't enjoy the clearest of runs early in the straight when the tempo increased after racing in the leading group from the outset. She probably would prefer more testing conditions to be seen at her best.
Belle's Ridge was staying on in midfield inside the final furlong when he stumbled and parted company with his apprentice rider.
Second reserve Mineral Star never recovered after losing considerable ground at the start.[BF]
