Dancera is a recent import from Germany and ran a huge race on her debut for Mervyn Torrens. A dual winner on good ground in her native country, she was held up early on before making good progress from early in the straight and made her challenge on the outside. The winner was just too good on the day.
Held up even further back was Varsity, who started to make progress half a mile out, but it was a lot to ask her to make up such a lot of ground in these conditions. She kept on better than anything inside the final furlong or so to be nearest at the finish.
Whispering Wind also had every chance. She travelled well on the outside of the field to get into contention early in the straight and even looked the biggest danger over two furlongs outbut was unable to sustain it inside the last.
End Of The Affair was being pushed to maintain her position half a mile out and wasn't going to be winning from early in the straight.
Shaimaa attempted to make all but had little left when headed three furlongs out, while recent Newbury fourth Flure De Leise faced a stiff task at the weights and under these conditions. She didn't help herself by being a bit keen early but she was beaten early in the straight. [JOH]
