Plenty of horses held chances after making the turn into the straight, but Misty Island had to challenge from off the pace and didn't get the rub of the green. Having improved from mid-division, she was hampered when trying to get involved at the two-furlong marker and while she came with a second effort over a furlong out, the winner had got first run.
Porto Calero looked sure to go close when she turned into the straight with a slight advantage and still led the way at the furlong marker, but she had no response from that point.
Keel Castle Maine made a good deal of ground inside the final two furlongs after seemingly getting outpaced in the early part of the race, while Always On Top dropped away after appearing full of running at the head of affairs three furlongs out.
