Caherassdotcom did her best to make this a good test, having taken up the running in the early stages. She still led passing the 2f marker, but was challenged over 1f out by the winner and had no answer. This was a much better effort than her Tipperary reappearance and first-time blinkers seemed to help
. Rose Rouge never managed to get seriously involved before staying on inside the final furlong to finish fourth, while Toberanthawn looked sure to finish in the first three approaching the 1f marker but faded badly to finish fifth.
The second of the Ballydoyle horses, Egyptian Hero , a well-bred son of Danzig, was always struggling from the outset and looked reluctant in the early stages before beating just two horses home.
