HASSANALI, placed on his two previous outings this year, went into this handicap a maiden and came out on top. He arrived on the outside with his challenge, under a patient ride, and ran on for pressure to get on top well inside the final furlong to continue the good run being enjoyed by his trainer for whom he was completing a double on the card.
Sativa, winner of a 1m handicap at the Curragh two years ago, had shown very little in a light campaign since. She had dropped down the ratings and produced her best effort for some time here under a hold-up ride. She came from the back to challenge from 2f out and hit the front entering the final furlong before giving best late on.
Melody Star, whose only win was achieved over 1m4f on Dundalk's polytrack in March, had been tried over longer trips since that victory without managing to make much impact. Soon close up, she came wide to lead under 3f out and after being headed one and a half furlongs out, she kept plugging away inside the final furlong.
Bricks And Porter, a four-time winner who has scored on ground ranging from heavy to firm, had gone up 4lb for his win (his first since October 2005) over this trip at the Curragh last month. He tracked the leading group on the inner before being moved left to begin his challenge 2f out and kept on for pressure without making much impression. (TOH)
