Laragh Hill tracked the lead before moving up to challenge the winner at the second last. It was a short-lived effort as the winner went away from him, but a perfectly respectable one nevertheless.
Charming Hymn was having his second run back after a seven-month break and showed the benefit of his reintroduction at Clonmel last week. However, he hasn't lost the trait of being a horse who travels well in his races but finds little when let down. He did that here, moving stylishly into a challenging position three out before he was ridden to try to close on the first two and soon made no impression.
Warm favourite Charminamix was held up in rear and, after making a bad mistake at the third flight, he didn't travel particularly well and was always struggling somewhat to get into contention. He could stay on only at one pace from early in the straight. He was examined by the vet afterwards and was found to be sore after pulling off his near fore shoe.
