Second Glance tracked leaders, 3rd halfway, ridden into 2nd over 1f out, kept on, not reach winner
Hidden Door disputed early, soon chased leader in close 2nd, ridden 1 1/2f out, no extra in 3rd 1f out, kept on same pace
House Rebel chased leaders, 4th halfway, ridden under 2f out, no impression over 1f out, kept on same pace
Beat The Rain chased leaders, 6th halfway, wide straight, ridden in 5th 2f out, kept on same pace
Daisy Mae Bates held up towards rear, some headway to 9th 2f out, kept on to 6th over 1f out, no impression on leaders
Bebo Betty mid-division, 9th halfway, ridden entering straight, kept on one pace
Amber Lee in rear of mid-division, ridden in 8th 2f out, soon no impression and kept on same pace
Camira slowly into stride, soon mid-division, 7th halfway, ridden in 6th 2f out, soon no extra
Condilessa very slowly into stride, towards rear for most, never a factor
Thru Love mid-division, 8th halfway, ridden in 7th 2f out, soon no extra and weakened
Ballyboolin Lady always towards rear
Idle Words chased leaders, 5th halfway, ridden in 6th before straight, soon weakened
Always in the first two, the winner took over before the turn into the straight, and as they came towards the centre of the track for the better ground, she quickened again a furlong out, holding her advantage all the way to the line. It's unlikely that she'd be good enough in a winners' race and handicaps look to be her future, and she's unlikely to be punished too harshly for winning this.
On all known form Second Glance would have been expected to win here and this would have to be considered a disappointing effort and a backward step indeed on what she achieved in finishing third in a hot maiden here two months ago. There were no apparent excuses, she raced prominently the whole way and was in the perfect position to launch a challenge early in the straight. She was unable to respond when Zorija Rose quickened a furlong out and kept on at the one pace.
Hidden Door turned the tables on House Rebel. She may not have been particularly suited by the 1m trip. Mid-division most of the way, she couldn't get on terms in the straight and is probably better suited to more positive tactics over a shorter distance.
Beat The Rain ran okay on her seasonal debut and on her first start for a new stable. Held up early, she made some progress to chase the leaders before the straight, but was unable to sustain it inside the last furlong and a half.
Daisy Mae Bates showed some ability, staying on from a good bit back in the straight to be never nearer. [JOH]
