Little Arrows held up, headway in 7th 2f out, improved to 3rd 1 1/2f out, ridden to challenge over 1f out, led briefly final furlong, no extra close home

Monivea mid-division, 7th halfway, ridden in 6th 1 1/2f out, kept on final furlong

Excellent Girl towards rear, late headway in 7th over 1f out, kept on well final furlong

April tracked leaders, 3rd halfway, 5th and short of room 2f out, soon switched to challenge on rail, ridden in 3rd 1f out, no extra, kept on same pace

Pax Soprana mid-division, 6th halfway, ridden in 8th 2f out, kept on same pace

Paddys Lad chased leader, 2nd halfway, ridden to lead under 2f out, headed 1 1/2f out, 4th and no extra over 1f out, soon weakened

Solasai chased leaders, 4th halfway, ridden to challenge in close 2nd 1 1/2f out, no extra in 5th 1f out, weakened

Cool For Cats slowly into stride, always behind

Serious Times soon led, ridden and headed under 2f out, soon hampered and eased

The ground, officially good, was slower than that according to the riders following plenty of rain. SEA OF MARMARA was expected to step up on his debut effort, and he duly did so to get off the mark.

Typically of any Ballydoyle juvenile these days, the benefit of the winner's fourth over this course-and-distance stood to him when he got the better of newcomer Little Arrows inside the final furlong to win a shade comfortably in the end. He should appreciate a step up in trip on this evidence.

The race included four newcomers and Little Arrows put up a creditable display, with his inexperience telling in the end when giving way to Sea Of Marmara. He should learn a lot from this, along with Monivea, a daughter of Fasliyev who should appreciate a sounder surface next time.

Excellent Girl was doing her best work in the closing stages and looks another who might appreciate further with this experience behind her.

Solasai had shaped well over this course and trip on her debut, before disappointing afterwards, and she never got in a blow contesting her third start.

The Fugitiveparted company with his rider on the way to the start and was subsequently withdrawn. (BF)
