The expected migration to the inside rail took place and low numbers held sway, with a mighty gamble on KELAMON being landed. Punters latched onto his draw in one with William Buick eligible to ride in this apprentice race. Connections had hoped he might be able to race along from his low draw but too much rain had fallen to fool the experts and all bar Blessed Place, who blazed away fully six lengths clear of the rest, Our Fugitive, who thought better of the stands side into the last 2f, and Bold Argument, who ended up first home stands' side with Linda Green ending up stands' side but never competitive.
Kelamon had won two soft-ground races here last midsummer and was back to a similar mark and a small rise would still leave him capable of a follow-up given theelements again being in his favour.
Memphis Man, again taken down early, was staying on nearest the inside rail when slightly short of room in the last 100 yards. He continues to run too consistently to get the handicapper's help but showed on his preferred soft ground he could end his long losing run.
Obe Royal still has to win on turf but stayed on takingly to suggest a return to 7f might help his cause. Bold Argument was hampered at the start and ending up stands' side, has run better than the bare form, so his 6lb rise might not stop him when things fall right for him.
