HesterBrook, who is rated only 45, dropped back from a mile and a half here. Allowed to make the running, he had no answer to the finishing speed of the winner, but kept on to the line.
Forrest Star, who is rated 59, had every chance, but was found wanting when the chips were down; her trainer had feared beforehand that the ground may be too slow for her.
The newcomer Billy Cadiz came in for support, but having jumped out smartly enough was then dropped-in and quickly lost his place to the extent that he was tailed-off turning for home. He stayed on late in the day, but could never get close enough to play a hand. He is worth another chance.
