The move was led by Shane Kelly on runner-up Tantris, and it actually looked as if TYRELLS WOOD'S rider Ted Durcan was trying to keep the gelding towards the far side and had little choice in the matter, as his mount was hanging persistently to the right and pretty much made his own way over to join the others, where he led inside the final furlong and won decisively. The drop in class and step up in trip were to his advantage here, but connections admit he is "a bit of a boy".
The switch to the stands' side nearly paid off for Tantris. He was always holding Pinnacle Point, who was the first to cover his move, but had no answer when the winner arrived on the scene. This was his best effort on turf.
Sparkling Montjeu was never going, but stuck on for a respectable fourth, having come over towards the stands' side and then hung back over the other way.
Bocciani, who led until over three furlongs out, stayed out towards the middle, as did Astrodome. Bocciani was under pressure a good way out and did much the better of the pair, both of whom were possibly at a disadvantage. Jean-Pierre Guillambert reported Bocciani had no more to give.
