Ex-French Ornella was running for only the fourth time for her new trainer, and the two who beat her at Warwick three weeks previously had both won since. She found herself in front much sooner than intended, clear leader General Knowledge having stopped quickly with over three furlongs to go, but she had every chance to turn it in when Pretty officer got up her inner and began a persistent challenge, and she appeared to battle well enough. She had been keen, travelling too well really, and is still capable of better when she settles and can be produced later.
Laish Ya Hajar has been too keen on occasions, nut he got a good lead from General Knowledge this time. He had no chance with the first two through the final furlong but held on for a remote third from The Iron Giant, who came from behind but has yet to win in 20 starts.
Spent, who had his chance and shapes as if he is struggling to get the trip.
