Analyis of the race

A game performance from British import BALLET BOY, who recorded his second win for Charles O'Brien. The former Sir Mark Prescott-trained gelded son of Sadlers Wells won over shorter journeys at Catterick and Windsor last year but similar to his win over 1m6f at Listowel he saw out this trip well under a polished ride. The GPT Amateur Handicap at the big Galway summer Festival is now on the agenda for his owner/rider Paul McMahon.

Mohtarres was having his first outing since last November and heshowed a liking for this quick ground when staying on best of all in the closing stages. He should build on this performance either in this sphere or when he goes back over jumps.

Hucklebuck shaped well off his revised rating after last month's Tramore win but was just outclassed at the business end on this livelier surface.

Alamgiyr raced prominently and held the call into the straight but the distress signals began to go up approaching the 2f marker. The recent Tramore winner also failed to pick up enough on this ground.

Sufad was held up before making some headway after halfway but was soon in trouble when asked to maintain that momentum in the straight.

Galway specialist Ansar was having his first run back and while this assignment looked beyondhim beforehand he showed some of his old zest when keeping on close home. A Flat handicap at the Curragh was mentioned by his trainer afterwards.

Kharsya was fancied to follow up her Tramore victory over 12f contesting her first handicap off 75 but this lightly raced filly struggled when asked to go about her business.[BF]
