Favourite backers got it right when VEGAS BABY comfortably got off the mark. She had previously run a respectable second over this journey and taking up the running under a furlong-and-a-half from home always had matters under control. A nursery or a search for some black type was mentioned by her in-form winning trainer after the daughter of Kheleyf again appreciated this blistering surface.
Comadoir is proving a frustrating colt to follow as this was his fifth time to fill the runner-up berth. He settled into a nice rhythm in second but was unable to find the necessary gears over this minimum trip to worry the eventual winner when she went for home.
Rantavan Wood had failed to show improvement from a fair first run at Leopardstown but this was more encouraging for connections with a tongue strap fitted for the first time.
Proud Catch is open to improvement given this was her first run outing, while the same could be said of Lady In The Bay who performed best of the Paul Deegan duo.
Thandi broke smartly to show some good early speed but was fighting a losing battle when relinquishing her advantage. She is another eligible for a handicap mark now with a nursery probably on the shortlist.[BF]
