Probably an overdue success for LYICAL ASSASSIN who stayed on well to score in this ordinary contest. Held up early, he made ground on the final circuit before going in pursuit of the runner-up early in the straight. Once hitting the front the race was over, and despite a slight mistake at the last he kept on well. He's good enough to win a handicap but not as good it seems as connections thought he was going to be at one stage.

Kalellshan attempted to make all and ran an honest race as last time at Punchestown. He didn't quite see out the trip. Having opened up a clear advantage halfway on the final circuit, he just couldn't last it out but did manage to run everything else ragged bar the winner.

South Upper Street raced in a handy position most of the way and was one of a trio that gave chase to the clear leader on the final circuit. He was ridden to close before the straight but couldn't really get any closer from before the second-last and swished his tail under pressure. Not an impressive performance overall.

One that did manage to keep on through beaten horses wasAgility Jo, and she was nearest at the finish having never been close enough to challenge.

Midnight Minnie chased the leader for the first half of the race but was beaten before the fourth last, while very disappointing was Maturus Ardor, who dropped away quickly after the third last having been prominent most of the way.
