This horse has done pretty well since joining Tom Hogan without winning until now, is very well handicapped on his best form and can continue to progress.
The opinion that horses racing up the inside rail, the wateredpart of the track, couldn't win was almost shattered by joint-top-weight Numen. Chasing the free-running leader for most of the way, he went to the front well over a furlong out and kept pulling out more before being tagged close home by the winner.
A horse good enough to beat Finsceal Beo as a juvenile, Numen has plummeted down the ratings since and this was his best run for a very long time. If able to return to something like his best, he is certainly handicapped to win a race or two.
Chasing the early pace, Show Blessed was close enough if good enough early in the straight but, not for the first time, was just found to be one-paced. The first three pulled away from him inside the finalfurlong.
Definite promise was shown by Maddie's Pearl. She was never close enough to challenge but ran in eyecatching fashion past beaten horses to be nearest at the finish.
Also very much catching the eye was the lightly raced Mystic Mayfly. Having her first run since last August, she was never involved but passed almost half the field inside the final furlong to be nearest at the finish. [JOH]
