Kiss N Run chased leader, close 2nd halfway, challenged 2f out, stayed on under pressure to lead under 1f out, kept on well final furlong
Prize Spirit soon led, ridden and challenged 2f out, stayed on under pressure, headed under 1f out, kept on
Pecavi dwelt, soon mid-division, headway to 5th before straight, switched over 2f out, stayed on to 3rd over 1f out, kept on
Jealous Guy chased leaders, 3rd halfway, ridden 2f out, no extra in 4th over 1f out, kept on same pace
Special Terms dwelt, towards rear, moderate 7th 2f out, stayed on to 5th over 1f out, kept on
Hotspur chased leaders, 6th halfway, ridden and no extra 2f out
Banquos Walk chased leaders, 5th halfway, ridden and no extra over 2f out
Thetearsthaticry dwelt and always towards rear
Icouldneverimagine chased leaders, 4th halfway, ridden and weakened when bumped over 2f out, trailing final furlong
This looked a weaker affair for the son of Averti compared to his debut effort over a mile at Leopardstown when fourth to Royal Astronomer. His trainer suggested afterwards that he needed every yard of this journey so a step up in trip is probably on the cards next time, most likely in a handicap.
Prize Spirit had hinted at ability before, withhis best effort coming at Tipperary when beaten a neck by South Dakota over the minimum trip. Rated 79, he was well-backed to shed his maiden tag and after disputing with the winner from the outset held the call when they straightened for home.
Pecavi had the benefit of a previous run behind him at Gowran Park and this was a step in the right direction. He did Icouldneverimagine no favours when pulled out for his effort, and plugged on inside the final furlong after briefly looking a potential threat. Chris Hayes, rider of Pecavi, picked up a one-day ban for careless riding.
Jealous Guy had plenty of experience behind him. The 74-rated gelded son of Street Cry was blinkered again, but he never looked like getting in a blow.
Special Terms overcame a slow start and kept on in the straight.
