Analyis of the race

The final open ditch on the back straight was omitted on both circuits. Another advertisement for a restorative powers of a move to South Wales, as WILLIAM BUTLER made an impressive debut for Evan Williams. Picked up at the Doncaster May sales for just 6,000gns six weeks ago, he had some fair form for Steve Brookshaw, including in testing conditions, but was starting to look exposed before switching yards.

However, he won with any amount in hand and is clearly a different proposition for his new yard. He holds an entry at Uttoxeter on Tuesday and could presumably take up that engagement, given that he didn't have to come out of second gear here.

Right at the back Night Reveller caught the eye to a very limited extent on this, her chasing debut, and she did pass one or two close home having been held up well in rear, but she has had plenty of chances.
