Trainer John Wainwright admitted that he had feared the worst over the change in going, but the winner has never been the easiest horse to predict and he seemed to relish conditions. He returns in a fortnight's time for the valuable Toteswinger Summer Plate and although his mark is some way higher over fences, he has earned it by landing a decent handicap chase at Kempton last October. Whether things will pan out for him there as well as they did heremust be doubtful though.
Irish raider Good Gordon belied his odds and seemed to improve, as his form hinted that he might, for the move up in trip. Hawk's Landing was one of the first under pressure andlooked very one-paced, but he didn't give up and could yet recapture winning form if he goes back over fences, with his stable having found a bit of form in recent weeks.
