Analyis of the race

Just a fair gallop to this novices' chase which was run in decent style by FRANC VILLEZ, who was having his second run for Gordon Elliott. A 125-rated hurdler, he hadn't run up to that mark on previous outings over fences, but stepped up to 3m here, he raced quite keenly, but travelled particularly well and was ridden clear from the second last. He's a sound jumper, and should progress.

Andrew Nick ran a satisfactory first race over fences, and would have given the winner more to do had he not made a bad mistake four from home. Although he recovered, he basically lost his chance and could only keep on for second.

Essifer, having his second run in two days, was a decent fourth, these four finishing well clear of the remainder.

Valiant Shadow didn't jump at all well and ran poorly.
