MIZEN RAVEN had won a point-to-point in Ireland over 3m in March, but though not disgraced over hurdles at around 2m4f on his three previous starts, he seemed suited by this drop back in trip, and he stayed on well after joining issue at the last. He had a mark of 105, but probably improved a bit on that here.
Speed Up is proving frustrating to follow, though he didn't appear to do anything wrong. He idled in front when just caught at Market Rasen on his previous start, and was delivered later here, but he just lost out in a driving finish. He's exposed, and though he deserves to win a race, he's been costly to follow.
Galiana travelled strongly, was sent clear three out, but had just been headed when he blundered badly at the last. He's a shade better than the bare form, but he wouldn't have won.
Gamma Velorum stayed on from off the pace without getting into it, but ran respectably on his hurdles debut.
Corkage, a dual bumper winner, was a shade disappointing, and Tucker was pulled up and dismounted after the third from home.
