Analyis of the race

A 0-130 handicap chase, and though the top weight was rated 117, it was a competitive event. APOLLO CREED has thrived on the fast ground this summer, and was officially well-in with his 7lb penalty for winning last week at Worcester. Always going well having been settled off the strong pace, he wasn't entirely fluent, but made ground steadily in the last mile and hitting the front going to the last, ran on in fine style. He'll face stiffer tasks in future handicaps, but is progressive for this was his fourth win of the summer, and as he's also a novice over both hurdles and fences he has plenty of options.
