Tanforan chased leaders, driven 3f out, stayed on same pace approaching final furlong

Oeuf A La Neige mid-division, effort over 2f out, stayed on same pace final furlong

Vesuvio chased leaders, effort over 2f out, one pace

Strabinios King in touch, took keen hold, edged left 1f out, one pace

Mangano mid-division, effort over 2f out, one pace when slightly hampered 1f out

Imperial Sword held up in rear, headway on inside over 2f out, weakened approaching final furlong

Battling Lil mid-division, effort on outside over 2f out, soon weakened

Second Reef held up in rear, steady headway on inside over 2f out, weakened approaching final furlong

Yorkshire Blue held up in rear, never on terms

A fairly competitive Class 5 handicap, which was won from the front by the well-drawn DERRICKS DOTTY. Well handled, the winner kept finding throughout the last 3f and it would appear that the fitting of a tongue-tie and a visor had the desired effect.

Earlsmedic came out of the pack to look dangerous over 1f out, but he appeared to carry his head high under pressure and was unable to reel in the winner, who kept galloping right to the line.

Hansomis, a maiden, ran a creditable race to finish on the heels of the principals in third.

Vesuvio looked like getting into this when asked for an effort behind the leaders over 2f out, but he was unable to make an impression.

Strabinios King was drawn wide, which may not have helped his chances, while Imperial Sword, upped in trip, was drawn widest of all.
