Main Aim took keen hold, held up in last pair, steady progress on outer from over 2f out, pushed firmly into lead last 150yds, ridden out near finish
Firestreak held up in 6th, pulled out over 1f out and progress, went 2nd last 75yds and closed but winner already home
Brassini tracked leader, led over 2f out and going strongly, ridden over 1f out, headed and one pace last 150yds
Opus Maximus unseated rider before going into stalls, held up in 7th, effort on inner over 2f out, some progress over 1f out, stayed on, no chance with leaders
Elysee Palace tracked leaders, ridden 2f out, one pace and never able to mount a challenge
Smokey Rye slowly into stride, held up in last, ridden over 2f out, stayed on final furlong, nearest finish
Nezami raced freely, led to over 2f out, stayed chasing until weakened inside final furlong
Lindoro tracked leaders, ridden 2f out, not quicken soon after, weakened final furlong
Dubai Dynamo tracked leaders, close 3rd just over 2f out, hanging and weakened badly over 1f out
He did not look to be idling in front yet was being caught in the final 50 yards. He remains open to improvement, especially if settling better and on the face of it the handicapper can hardly hammer him for this.
Firestreak, who went up 7lb in defeat last time, was taken down under a tight hold. He was covered up and the winner swept past before he was pulled out midtrack to find an impressive turn of foot that was getting to the winner in the final strides. His form is stacking up well and he still looks to be progressing. He travelswell and on this showing looks well worth a try at a mile.
Opus Maximus and Smokey Rye, settled at the back, were staying on when it was all over. Opus Maximus stuck to the inside rail run and was lengthening well when having to just edge out round the weakening frontrunner Nezami. He has no problems with fast ground and this was a second better run with his stable beginning to show signs of picking up. Smokey Rye was taken off her feet into the straight and pulled widest midtrack. She stayed on steadily but she has paid for her good all-weather season, returning to turf off a 15lb higher mark than when well beaten at Brighton last October.
Lindoro ran far too keenly along with Elysee Palace in chasing the pace set by Nezami. Dubai Dynamo's run was far too bad to be true after his fine effort in the Britannia. He was eased when beaten 2f out. (BJ)
