Since finishing second in an all-weather maiden at 150-1 in April, he hasn't looked back since and defied worries about the going and a 5lb rise in the weights for a recent Sandown success with victory.
Having taken a lead off Town House for the first half of the race, he quickly got the better of that rival when asked to quicken up and, although he drifted markedly left in the closing stages, nothing looked as if it would get close enough to challenge.
This wasn't a great race and he didn't look as if he had an enormous amount in hand, but one suspects that there are more races to be won with him and returning to a sharp six furlongs shouldn't be against him.
Peter's Storm seemed to be returning to form on his previous start and was particularly well backed. The return to the minimum trip seemed to suit as he just denied Sands Crooner - attractively handicapped on turf compared with his all-weather form - for second place.
Charles Parnell probably saw too much daylight, but was nevertheless disappointing having looked a winner waiting to happen earlier this season.
It is a long time since Jonny Ebeneezer sparkled on a racecourse and even a return to his mercurial trainer looks unlikely to work the oracle, judged on this mulish performance.
