Victory went to HE'S A HUMBUG, who was not winning out of turn and who battled on well to win in workmanlike style. It won't have done his confidence any harm to get his head in front again after a frustrating time of things and he is probably a horse to keep on the right side, especially as he hails from a horse in terrific form.
Winthorpe bounced back to form with a fine effort under a good ride from his young 7lb claimer, who got a particularly good tune out of him in the closing stages.
Mambo Spirit, on a long losing run, showed plenty of dash and ran a very creditable race in third.
