Analyis of the race

Low-grade stuff for this handicap and the spoils went to LORD DEEVERT, who had been well supported in a seller at Brighton three days previously but proved one-paced on that occasion. However, it was a different story here without the headgear he wore at the seaside track, as he showed a willing attitude to rally back past Shakespeare's Son. He is due to go up 5lb for his effort before getting turned over in the seller but the form is obviously nothing to get carried away about.

The runner-up is due to go up 3lb from the weekend for getting beaten last time. There is probably a poor heat like this in him, but where and when is the question.

Bilboa had been unlucky the last twice but he had his chance here and could not pick up.

Presto Levanter kept on close home but was not helped by his low draw in a big field.
