Quirina always prominent, led over 1f out, ran on well final furlong and always in command
Welcome Return towards rear, headway over 2f out, chased winner over 1f out, no impression towards finish
Finmore Queen midfield, not clear run 2f out, headway 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, not pace of front pair
Top Vision held up, switched right 2f out, ridden and headway over 1f out, stayed on inside final furlong, never able to challenge leaders
Devinius raced keenly, prominent, challenged 2f out, soon ridden, weakened inside final furlong
Ma Al Salamah led, ridden 2f out, headed over 1f out, weakening when not much room inside final furlong
Nayarna in touch, ridden over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong
Challow Hills tracked leaders until ridden and weakened 2f out
Sempre Libera behind, pushed along over 3f out, never on terms
Welcome Return, who is in the Newmarket sales next week. kept on under pressure but could not get to the winner. She has been running consistently well.
Finmore Queen had finished sixth and Quirina seventh at Goodwood last time, so the former should have finished at least closer to the winner. But she did not have the clearest of passages and still looked a bit green, so there may be some improvement in her.
Devinius was close enough if good enough two out but had no more to offer when it mattered. She was keen early on and this would not have helped.
Ma Al Salamah did not stay 1m2f at Pontefract last time and on the evidence this time, a mile looked a bit too far.
Jimmy Quinn reported that Ma Al Salamah hung right.
Francis Norton reported that Challow Hills found the good ground too fast for her.
