Bencoolen took keen hold, made all, set steady pace after 2f, quickened over 2f out, ridden 1f out, ran on well

Wind Star went right and hit gate leaving stalls, held up, headway over 1f out, ridden and chased winner final furlong, no impression

Jadaara awkward leaving stalls, held up in rear, headway on inside 1f out, kept on same pace

Mustajed held up in touch, chased winner over 4f out, ridden over 1f out, lost 2nd and one pace final furlong

Peruvian Prince chased winner until over 4f out, ridden over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong

Given A Choice took keen hold towards rear, edged left well over 1f out, soon ridden, no response

An enterprising ride saw BENCOOLEN run out the winner of this handicap. He's usually held up but seemed to enjoy bowling along in front and, after being given a breather on the home turn, settled matters as he quickened the tempo to repel all challengers. Obviously these tactics open up new avenues for the winner who is relatively unexposed and it would not be a surprise if he was brought out again fairly quickly to run again under a penalty.

Jadaara hails from a yard still trying to find its usual summer form. She may well prove to be better than this when things do click for the stable.

Mustajed had his chance but is another who looks handicapped up to his best at present.
