Secret Night broke well, took very keen hold, soon restrained in rear, smooth headway on bridle 2f out, shaken up and ran on strongly final furlong, just failed
The Jostler in touch, took closer order over 2f out, ridden to lead over 1f out, headed final 75yds, no extra
Fantasy Princess restrained start, ridden over 2f out, no impression until ran on final furlong, nearest finish
Cinerama tracked leader, ridden and every chance over 1f out, soon edged right, no extra inside final furlong
Danseuse Volante held up, switched right and effort 2f out, kept on same pace
Leading Edge led, ridden and headed over 1f out, faded final furlong
Love On Sight held up, ridden over 2f out, no impression
Debonnaire chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out
Analyis of the race
They again raced midtrack but this was another muddling affair despite Leading Edge jumping off into a clear lead as she eased off in the lead after a couple of furlongs before the field bunched in the sprint home.
As such the form should be treated with some caution. LA COVETA, dropping back to her winning trip, chased the pace and crucially ran straight and true down the middle of the track to just prevail. She is still unexposed and has built on her comeback effort.
Secret Night, with cheekpieces tried for the first time, travelled well through the race against her younger rivals but crucially had to switch and was noted by the stewards to have been hit over the nose by Cinerama's jockey's whip. She stayed on strongly to just fail off what is a much lower rating than her all-weather mark. She clearly has the ability to make amends.
*Debonnaire was reported by her jockey to have moved poorly throughout.
