He needed some driving to get to the leader and all credit to him for the way he kept responding, but he had little to spare.
Kashimin, winner of his only run as a two-year-old had not shown much on his first two runs of the current term, but he was suited by the conditions and there is certainly a race of this quality in him.
John Keats took a while to really get into top gear but he finished well and this was a grand effort from an in-form horse under a big weight.
Hunt The Bottle seemed to find the pace a little bit hot in the early stages, but he kept on in the closing stages and seven furlongs on this sort ground could be the secret.
Pearl Dealer, a winner over seven furlongs on the all-weather for Godolphin last year, showed his first signs of form this year.
