Analyis of the race
As strong a field as was likely to assemble for a £3,000 46-65 contest, which is to say this was a modest middle-distance handicap. Plenty failed to get into things and the first two drew clear.
Winning hurdler FISTRAL had been a good second on the Flat at Hamilton a fortnight earlier and confirmed the promise of that effort, getting up close home after a good battle in the final 1f.
Mister Fizzbomb was one of his few rivals to have shown solid recent form and he ran his race again, leading over 1f out until near the finish and coming clear of the rest.
Funky Town led after 2f until over 1f outbut has not started life in handicaps on an attractive mark.
Saluscraggie was never dangerous and may need a softer surface.
