Tawzeea chased leader, led over 1f out, ran on strongly
Seta Pura chased leaders, stayed on final furlong, took 2nd near finish
Dark Champion led, headed over 1f out, no extra
Legendary Guest tracked leaders, effort over 2f out, kept on final furlong
Expensive Art reared start, headway over 4f out, ridden over 2f out, kept on same pace
Hotham tracked leaders, outpaced over 2f out, kept on final furlong
Red Cape slowly into stride, in rear, kept on final 2f, never a factor
So quite how much improvement TAWZEEA found is open to question but he accomplished this task well enough, tracking the leader before going on over 1f out and always in command thereafter. He had this race run to suit him and he will be heading back up in the weights but he does look to have resumed his progress.
Seta Pura had been off the track since winning a maiden here last autumn as she reportedly ‘wasn't ready' and she shaped well on this belated return, ridden over two out but staying on in the final 1f - she left the impression she will benefit from a stiffer test of stamina but there look to be more races to be won with her.
But Expensive Art again failed to live up to the promise of her Yarmouth win in the spring, starting slowly headway and weakening inside the final 1f, while Hotham, who had looked to be in the form of his life, could make only late headway for a never-dangerous sixth.
Red Cape was always behind.
