Mujahope slowly into stride, took keen hold in rear, headway on inside over 2f out, stayed on to lead inside final furlong, driven clear
Naias chased leaders on outer, edged left 2f out, upsides just inside final furlong, stayed on same pace
Dubai To Barnsley led, took keen hold, headed and hampered over 4f out, led over 1f out until inside final furlong, no extra
Billy Bowmore in rear, headway 2f out, stayed on inside final furlong
Walragnek soon tracking leaders, effort over 2f out, soon hampered, kept on same pace final furlong
Kyzer Chief chased leaders on outer, effort over 2f out, hung left, kept on same pace final furlong
Champagne Sue mid-division, effort over 2f out, soon beaten
Uncle Harry mid-division, driven over 2f out, soon lost place
Lavande unruly leaving paddock, tracked leaders, led over 4f out until over 1f out, soon weakened and eased
Tump Mac dwelt, always in rear
So MUJAHOPE may not have needed to improve much to score at the 16th attempt, coming from behind and getting a dream run on the inside in the straight to lead inside the final 1f. He had not looked obviously well treated with a BHA rating of 49 previously but is reckoned to have improved for a switch to sprinting by his trainer - who also believes he is still weak and will be a better horse next year.
Newcomer Naias showed ability from her wide draw, chasing the pace on the outside until no extra late on. She should improve but the modest nature of the opposition means this is not form to get carried way with.
For fifth-placed Walragnek is exposed as modest and the in-form Kyzer Chief was below his best and again looked less than straightforward.
Lavande had strong claims on last season's form but disappointed on this first run of the year, while Tump Mac could not confirm the smidgeon of promise he had shown previously.
