Deep Winter prominent, effort and edged left over 1f out, carried left inside final furlong, kept on, just failed, finished second, awarded the race
Jollyhockeysticks tracked leaders, pushed along over 3f out, effort 2f out, hung left and led well inside final furlong, all out, finished first, disqualified and placed second
Johnny Friendly led until headed and no extra well inside final furlong
Casino Night prominent until edged left and outpaced from 2f out
Willyn held up in touch, driven along over 3f out, outpaced over 2f out
Safari Dancer held up, ridden over 3f out, never on terms
Chaenomeles towards rear, driven halfway, beaten final 2f
Halton Castle held up, driven and outpaced 3f out, soon beaten
DEEP WINTER was a short-priced favourite to follow up her win at Great Leighs last week, but only got the race courtesy of the stewards. Coming from off the pace, she was being driven along from two furlongs out, but though she too appeared to be edging left, she responded well only to just fail. She was well in with her penalty here, so will face a tougher task in future events.
These three were clear of Casino Night, who raced in touch, and she in turn was clear of the rest in a race in which nothing else featured.
