Lancaster Lad held up, headway on inside 2f out, led just inside final furlong, ran on well
Fairly Honest led until ridden and headed just inside final furlong, not pace of winner
Straight Face held up in rear, headway on outside over 1f out, stayed on to go 3rd inside final furlong
Lord Deevert took keen hold, held up, headway on outside 3f out, hung badly left well over 1f out, one pace and lost 3rd inside final furlong
Split The Wind tracked leaders, ridden and short of room well over 1f out, never on terms after
Llab Nala tracked leader until ridden and badly hampered well over 1f out, not recover
Whodouthinkur mid-division, ridden 3f out, weakened 2f out
LANCASTER LAD followed up a similar win last week and on this evidence is progressing - connections went to8,800gns to retain him, which adds to that impression. He could have a problem getting into a handicap off his lowly mark even if upped for this.
Fairly Honest had beaten some admittedly rag-tag performers when swept aside by Ogre in a claimer over 1m2f here last time. That suggested he could have a handy mark and he again set out to make all but not at such a fast pace.
Straight Face was coming off a break, clearly to freshen him up after a flat run, and he ran well enough to suggest a selling win soon.
Lord Deevert, held up off the strong pace, was palpably unable to act on the track, hanging badly left which saw him bump the weakening Llab Nala as he tried to mount a challenge.
