Ginger Princess in rear of mid-division, took closer order on outer approaching straight, 8th 2f out, kept on without threatening inside final furlong
Famous Seamus tracked leaders, 3rd halfway, 2nd approaching straight, soon weakened, no extra from 2f out
Miss Latina led, headed over 2f out, ridden and no extra from over 1f out
If Paradise slowly away, never better than mid-division
Islandbane mid-division, 8th approaching straight, no extra from 2f out
Oversighted tracked leaders, 3rd halfway, weakened approaching straight, no extra from 2f out
Fereeji never a factor
Having been settled prominently on he side rail in the early part of the race, Pat Smullen was still travelling well over 2f out on the winner and while he was in sixth place at the 1f marker, he came with a wet sail on the inside rail to snatch victory on the line from Nortburn.
Having finished third and second in his previous two outings, the winner was winning for the second time in his career but this was largely down to a well-timed effort from his well-instructed jockey.
For most of the final furlong, it appeared as though this finish was going to be fought out by Nortburn and Maundy Money and it was the former who won the battle in the closing stages.
Maundy Money was always in the firing line but having led over 1f out, had no answer close home to the front two finishers.
Having finished second on his previous two starts, the fourth-placed Wesaidneveragain was close enough to get involved over 1f out but was one-paced from there onwards, while the same can be said about Headford View, who was also close enough to get involved inside the final two furlongs.[RC]
