Analyis of the race

She hadn't particularly really looked like on the verge of winning a handicap, but LISA BLEU delivered here.

Having said that, she had run well in a Roscommon handicap a few weeks ago, so there were certainly less likely winners of this race. Heldup early, she made quite rapid progress to get into contention after the third-last and kept up that level of momentum. A quick jump at the last sealed the issue.

It wasn't the best handicap in the world and she's unlikely to be punished too harshly.

Ryan's Academy is threatening to deliver and went closest here since returning from a long layoff. Held up off the pace, he made smooth progress and travelled strongly to the lead at the second-last, but sluggish jumps at both the second-last and last flights scuppered his chance. If remaining in this sort of form he looks very likely to win a handicap.

Back Of The Pack showed that the handicapper probably has her on just about the correct mark. Always tracking the lead, she came through to challenge at the third-last and kept on well at the same pace without quite being good enough.

Slick Vick has returned in seemingly good fettle from his winter holidays and ran another good race here. Held up off the pace, he closed up before three out to have a chance early in the straight and just kept on at one pace from there. He may well progress enough to win a small handicap this summer.

Top-weight Glasog was never seen with a chance before keeping on at one pace to be nearest at the finish, while gambled-on favourite Salaasa was quite prominent until dropping away well over half a mile out.
